About

I first took up photography as a young kid growing up in Southern California. Originally, I used a borrowed film camera and learned developing and printing techniques in a community dark room. Later, I studied photography at the local community college. While working as a roadie for Elvis Presley, I continued to create B&W street and abstract art.

Then, I felt the need to act like an adult for a while.

After getting a bachelor’s degree from UC San Diego, a doctorate from UCLA and an MBA from Stanford, I had successful careers in healthcare (as a pediatrician at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles/USC) and business (starting several medical companies and providing health coverage to underserved populations). I then retired and returned to my first love. Following successful completion of the National Parks Photography Expeditions Mentor Program, which includes reviews and critique from faculty in the Fine Arts Departments at the University of Utah and Concordia College, I now focus on creating fine art collections that explore perception and change.

My work has recently been included in juried exhibitions at the Modern Visual Arts Gallery in Bethlehem, PA; Black Box Gallery in Portland, OR; Art Scene West in San Diego, CA; Glasgow Gallery of Photography in Glasgow, Scotland; and at New York’s Decagon Gallery online. I have been incredibly honored to receive Honorable Mention in the Decagon exhibit “Botanicals: Flora of the World” and to be named 2025 Photographer of the Year in the Macro category by Noir Magazine.
